Hildewintera colademononis, is a fantastic plant with very long white and soft, hairlike spines. The common name “monkey's tail” refers to the appearance of the hairy stems. It is free flowering and the outsize bright red blooms are particularly decorative. 

Appearance features:

🍃Leaves: The fleshy leaves of the nine-tailed fox have a special shape, resembling an oblate tube or trumpet with curled edges. The leaves are generally light green in color, sometimes with red or pink edges.

🌸Flowers: The succulent flowers of Nine-tailed Fox are relatively small, pink or white, and usually bloom in spring.

🪴Plant: Nine-tailed fox succulent growth is relatively compact, with short branches. The plant is usually not tall, but it can be wider, forming a unique succulent shape.

A single plant can have three to five stems, which branch at the bottom. The plant grows upright for a few feet then the stems become pendant and droop. They produce bright, red flowers that are particularly very decorative. They bloom for a few days and then turn to fruits with a brief life span.

Apart from its natural habitat, the Monkey Tail Cactus does well as a house plant too.Perfect for hanging pots/baskets. Preferably best grown as hanging plants due to its unique drooping stems.

Growth habits and cultivation:

Light requirements: Nine-tailed fox succulent likes full sunlight, but it can also grow in semi-shade and is suitable for placement on balconies, windowsills, etc.
Temperature requirements: Like warm climate, not cold tolerant, need to keep the temperature above 10 degrees Celsius in winter.
Soil requirements: Prefer loose, well-drained soil. You can use soil specifically for succulent plants or mix leaf humus, perlite and other materials to make soil with good permeability.
Water management: Tolerant to drought, but does not like long periods of drought. Moderate watering is required in summer, but stagnant water should be avoided. Reduce watering frequency in winter and keep the soil slightly moist.
